In other words, if you want big money- the more precise the better. An executive summary style plan just might not get you funded.

Form 1099-MISC is most commonly used by payers to report payments made in the course of a trade or business to others for services.
If you paid someone who is not your employee, such as a subcontractor, attorney or accountant $600 or more for services provided during the year, a Form 1099-MISC needs to be completed, and a copy of 1099-MISC must be provided to the independent contractor by January 31of the year following payment. You must also send a copy of this form to the IRS by February 28 (although the form does not have to be sent to the IRS until March 31 if the business files the 1099s electronically, using the FIRE system).

In America that job is called HVAC..I have never really seen a crew of HVAC workers..but have seen many Electricians at work..as a matter of fact its difficult too have a day go by that Electricians are NOT working..as to the Trade School part..you should accept a sponsor for getting some training..the rest is difficult to imagine..there's many up&downs in life..getting to be a apprentice sure seems calculating.
You're assuming a lot. Lots of people will donate to a Trek amusement park, but no one is going to work there unless they're paid, they live there, and they come in. They're not going to talk to you online about working somewhere that isn't even started yet. You're not going to get volunteers. I'm sad to say it, but this is America, and people will only do work if they get something out of it. I'd work there if for the fact that it's not started yet, I don't know where it would be, etc. But that's not the point.
I propose that you start slowly, saving up every cent you can, taking donations, and making a Facebook page for it. This way you can do this. This might be a bad idea, but you can go to Paramount, tell them about the idea, see what they do, and they might give you funding to start the park but they will want A LOT of the profits to pay off the fact that you're using their logo. The possibly bad idea: get a loan, make a few rides, and pay it off. You'll be in debt for awhile, but this can be successful if done properly. Do not take out outrageous sums of cash to do this. Also, go to major companies and ask them if they want a place where they can be advertised. Then put ads up all over your park. Be sure to do that. But going into debt for a certain amount of time is going to happen. Whether Paramount gives you money, or a bank does. But make sure you pay it off.
Also, I suggest making a movie theatre where you can show the movies. Make a roller coaster called the Enterprise and have it be REALLY tall. Like in the top 10. Try googling The Mamba and look at images from that. But make it sliver and electric blue or something awesome like that.
So. It'll be a big project. Worlds of Fun (google it) has cost $292,000,000 so far. But in their defense, they lived in a really upscale neighboorhood and the owner's parents probably paid for it. Also, Worlds of Fun has had a total of 14 roller coasters and several other major rides. Anyway, if you do a good job, don't hire crooked employees, and have a nice, tall, steel hyper roller coaster at around 220 feet lift hill, you'll do great. A fun thing to do is design your park on a Roller Coaster Tycoon game. I've played the 2nd and it's pretty realistic.

I feel like they underemphasize the number of people who have a ridiculous amount of potential. For example, they won’t even look at the people who don’t have college degrees. Sure, most people will agree that they should take college grads over high school dropouts. They also don’t realize that there really is no down side to giving them a shot. If they succeed, the people that invested faith in them get a huge amount of credit- if not, they’re high school dropouts. Take a risk that’s worth it.

I completely agree with your leap of faith – although I think it’s easier to set short-term goals rather than writing a massive business plan. I feel the need to do everything in my company although I realise that it will have detrimental effects on what I actually ‘enjoy’ doing. What would be your view on that?

I must say I admire that you are planning to undergo so much training. Now, for the real world aspect. What you describe sounds very wonderful and I'm not saying its not possible, but be more realistic.
My suggestion to you would be discussing it with a counselor somewhere who specializes in career counseling, or perhaps discuss things with someone at the job corps center, and most importantly, your wife. If you can't make a decision like this then you likely will have a difficult time in making the harder decisions in life. Its the two of you in this together.
Personally, I would go with either facility maintenance, or welding. What's most important is getting income to live on first off. Also do something you want to do, otherwise it will be a tedious life you lead despite the income.
You seem to be pushing out choices as you write this. Write try writing your strengths and weaknesses out on a sheet of paper. Then the careers and seeing which balances best. Most of these careers earn the same amount of money and despite what job corps tells you, nothing is guaranteed. Sure you might get placed but its the skills that keep you there. Career guaranteed, job not.

Get your apprenticeship and then start looking for a new job. This is common practice and nobody will be surprised. It's also a common practice to cut people loose just before you have enough hours to complete your apprenticeship.
It's always a challenge to find a good employer. Use your current experience and start writing a list of requirements for a new job so you avoid the same situation in the future. The company not only has to be able to treat you the way you want but also has to have the work to keep you employed. This is typically a trade off.
