Compression type joints like the one on the p-trap don’t need teflon tape. The threads aren’t designed to make the seal, the washer on the trap arm and the concave shape of the trap adapter are designed to make the seal. The bulk of the teflon poses more of a risk of breaking the nut on the trap arm than tightening it down. How do you fix it? Buy a new inch and half trap washer for about 10 cents.
@TheJourneymanShow I’ve had plastic trap nuts leak before, without using teflon tape….brand new ones even. Every time I’ve used teflon tape, I have not had a leak so I figure I would continue using the tape, especially if the arm is coming out at a very slight angle or more of an angle like I was dealing with on this video. I know this will sound harsh and cold. No child deserves to die. Your son is either so hard to get along with that nobody will even try, or he has a habit of getting involved with troubled women. And making babies with them! I'm sorry, but this is what happens.
The answer to your first question is no, it's not against the law. This is his fault, either for being impossible or for making babies with sick women. Now, he needs to separate the insult of not being notified, from what is morally right. Yes, the insurance was bought for just this reason. Who controls the policy? If he does, then shame on him for even asking this question, but if she does, and she spent 8K on a funeral, then no, he is not liable for her bills. But does that absolve your son from doing one final thing that's just about his child, not about the child's mother? After all, he hasn't had to pay child support.
